Save The Kids From The Christmas Grinches

Posted by Mike | November 30, 2007 .

A fellow marketer named Lisa Preston let me know about a sad story out of Canada.  Her sister Carol works in a pub that was collecting money to help 32 underprivileged children and their families have a happy Christmas.

They had saved up over $7,000 for the kids, and then some scum-sucking thieves broke into the pub and stole it all.

Here’s what Lisa wrote about this…

Unfeeling, Heartless Monsters!!!

Ever have that deep-down, gut wrenching feeling that makes you just sick in your heart? I woke today to that hollow feeling…

My sister works at a local pub/restaurant that is a long-time fixture in the community, and the staff and patrons are more like family than anything else. Every year, they work tirelessly and generously to raise funds for local children who are without homes, families and more - and who would pass sadly through the Christmas season without any kind of celebration, without a single gift otherwise.

This year, they have a list of 32 little children, and due to their enthusiasm and dedication to raising as much as they possibly could, they were able to raise over $7000 to provide a Christmas elebration for these awesome, eager little kids.

Can you just imagine how those little faces must be shining with hope this year? All smiles, just beside themselves with joy that they won’t pass through the Christmas season without notice this year? The warm and powerful message they are learning about the kindness of strangers?

Well, how do you tell one of those little shining faces - nevermind 32 - that it can’t happen after all?

This morning at 7 am, we were awakened by the phone to learn that the establishment has been broken into… and you guessed it - the filthy thieves stole the Christmas “Grinch Fund” that was lovingly collected and proudly promoted, all for the kids. With a sledgehammer and hacksaw, they were able to disappear with well over $7000… and the kids’ Christmas.

What kind of heartless monster would do such an evil thing?

The tearful staff and customers are heartbroken, but still haven’t given up. Nobody wants the task of telling these kids they won’t have Christmas after all. So in desperation, they are exhausting every avenue to recoup those losses - and I am begging you to help.

Please…

If you have the ability to give to this worthy effort, I’m asking for your generosity this season. ANY amount! It’s so rare to be able to see the tangible effects of a donation, and I know that every single penny will go towards those children.

As a father of two little girls, this type of story really hits home.  Let’s do what we can to make sure these needy children have a special Christmas.
